People Suck

So not all people.  I'm in a bit of a conundrum.  All of the people I work with are fantastic.  But when I am out riding my bicycle its like pulling teeth to get a head nod or a wave.  Lets face it these people are not on the rivet at the Tour.  They are on a friggin bike path.

Im told there is a term for it "Seattle Freeze."  Well, anyway, the locals suck!!!

But I did enjoy a nice ride today.  Mostly flat, though that is pretty hard here.  The climbs aren't long, but they are steep.  Multiple places getting to the flat are over 11%.  But given that I'm out of shape, time to just embrace the suck and keep moving forward.

And now......Tequila.

Also a bit of news, still waiting for the vacation lottery, but planning to put some events on my calendar.  The Seattle to Portland Ride in July and Ironman Coeur D'Alene in August.  The move of that race to august is good for me, basically a year from this week.  Game on.

Still here

Nothing to add at this point.  Still rolling

I'm still here

So the steak lives on.  Legs and body are a bit fried.  But that's a good thing.   Nutrition is on track and alcohol is leaving the system.

Day 3

So the steak lives on.  Nothing really new to add today.  Trying to come up with some lists of things that make me happy, stressed etc.   And then see if I can work through some of them.

Streak

So I'm  not sure you call it a steak at two days but it is a starting point.   Read a blog somewhere and the thought  that stuck went something like "the odds of a workout tomorrow are 50:50". Well I'll take that as my percentages have been much worse.  I have exercised much more consistently since the move.  But still not ideal.  Waiting on the pool for awhile until a habit is formed.  Somewhere else I read that that takes 45+ days.  Not quite one percent on my way.  Haha.

I have been a bit of a mess.  Not sure what I have been expecting out of life.  There are no free lunches. And I'm not entitled to happily ever after. So maybe I will just have to work towards that myself. The only thing that can hold me back is myself.   I choose happiness as a way of life and will work at that. Think I need to get out  of my head about and live.

Worrying won't accomplish anything.  And. As someone smarter than me acknowledged about themselves "I overestimate my ability to impact external situations.

192 today down from 195. So my plan of going from 185 to 175  didn't turn out the way I had it planned.

Treadmill

So we got a new treadmill. Our old one would shock you if you didn't ground yourself to it.  It just didn't seem worth moving it across country.   Should have done better due diligence.  Was hoping to have a heart rate control on it and I guess it does but it only adjusts the incline.   Basically worthless feature.   Anyway.  It will start getting some use once it cools off.  Too hot inside for now.   At this point I will walk while watching tv.

Moving

So.  I moved to Washington state in December. Into a little one bedroom apartment.  Me and daisy,my dog.

The family had now joined me and it's time to move again.  This time into a house for all of us but it is a process.  The PODS arrived yesterday and the movers are coming today.  Then we have to pack up my little apartment and move it as well.  Good times!!!

Probably no workout today figure I will get my fair share with lifting etc.

Bridal Veil Falls

So a nice hike with the family.  It was pretty much uphill most of the way there which made for a fair amount of grumbling from the kids, but what goes up must go down, so a pretty fast return to the car. Though going down with a dog on a leash isn't the easiest.
This is the view close to the top and as a family unit we were close to stopping at this point but just around the corner is this view.
So it is definitely worth the final push up the "steps" to reach to top.  Plus the mist off the falls makes for a nice swamp cooler to cool off before the fast descent.

Prior to this I figured out the course for my new commute to work.  Its only about 9.8 miles but its not a gimme.  There are a couple of stiff up hills.  My HR info wasn't coming across to the Garmin, but i say 178 at one point, and thats just trying to get there, NOT trying to go fast.  Today I plan to ride the reverse and see what going home from work will feel like.

Movers come tomorrow.  soon to have the clan out of the 1 BR apartment.  It will be nice to have some space.

Still eating like crap and drinking too much, but this is vacation.

Thats all for now.

Life

Life is amazing.  And scary.....luckily for us all is a combination of all things.  I'm not a blogger but I just need a place to store my thoughts so this will be a diary of sorts.

I am now 5 months into a new phase of life.  I quit my job,  and started a new one in the pacific NW, specifically the Seattle area.  My family has now joined me so we are a unit again.  Its good to be all together though it will be nicer when we are out of my 1BR apartment.

So in the days and weeks to follow I will just detail LIFE.  Food, exploration, exercise ( if i ever do any), family, and anything else that pops into my brain.  Probably better entitled musings of a middle aged MAMIL.
